We are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Applications Scientist with expert-level experience in Liquid Chromatography (LC) and preparative chromatography to join our fantastic team supporting instrument sales in the Nordic region. At the Waters Demonstration Laboratories, we play a critical role in business growth by understanding our customers’ scientific challenges and providing solutions through our industry-leading LCMS and preparative platforms.

This position is based at our ultra-modern facility in Taastrup, Denmark, within the Applications Laboratory. As part of the Nordic applications team, you will apply your LC and preparative chromatography expertise across a wide range of applications and sales support activities. The role involves travel across the Nordic countries to engage with customers, understand their requirements, and present results from sample analysis. Customer training and support are also essential components of the role. Travel is expected to be approximately 30%.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, personable scientist who brings extensive experience in LC/preparative chromatography, strong sample analysis capabilities, and excellent demonstration skills to help customers make informed decisions about their next technological investment. With frequent opportunities for internal and external collaboration, this role is both rewarding and varied, supported by a broad network that includes Sales, Marketing, R&D, Product Development, and beyond.

At Waters, you’ll also find a wealth of opportunities to grow and develop your career within a supportive and globally connected organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert in LC and preparative chromatography within the Nordic team, with a focus on Empower software.
  • Collaborate closely with Application Chemists and Instrument Sales teams within the wider European organization.
  • Support early-stage sales pipeline development through laboratory projects, customer collaboration, and technical guidance.
  • Provide scientific leadership to enhance expertise within the regional Applications Laboratory.
  • Support the introduction of new technologies and lead demonstrations for both internal teams and customers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, offering field input into new or early-stage product development.
  • Lead by example, ensuring full compliance with Quality Management System and Health & Safety standards.

  • Demonstrated industry experience in analytical, industrial, or commercial laboratories.
  • Ideally from a method development or QC background.
  • High proficiency in Empower is highly desirable.
