Overview

The Principal Application Chemist APAC is part of a team of scientists and informatics engineers responsible for providing scientific contributions which impact the food, environment and pharmaceutical testing world. He/She is responsible for outcome-based application development and project execution by collaborating with internal stakeholders, research centers and customer accounts. He/She contributes and impacts on business outcomes which position Waters as the leading specialty measurement company in the food, environment and pharmaceutical market. This includes developing new science, methods and practices, as well as generation and presentation of scientific content using the Waters product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of customer education programs
  • Planning, conducting & analyzing experiments – project execution
  • Communication of scientific expertise to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate research proposals & routine management of collaborations including regular interaction with higher level scientists/managers and marketing
  • Coaching team members and guiding them through consultation and collaboration projects
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop integrated food, environment and pharma solutions
  • Development of a customer education strategy and execution of the same
  • Support marketing activities to promote the professional services portfolio
  • Support the promotion of paid consultation and educational services

Qualifications

  • Potential candidate should have Master/PhD in biochemistry, biology, chemistry or related applied sciences
  • 8-10 years experience in multi-disciplinary research in food, environment or pharma field, and/or multiple years of related industry experience with proven track record
  • In depth analytical knowledge in food, environment and/or pharmaceutical analysis or research with experience using HPLC, GC, MS, and related technology are preferred
  • Experienced in developing and implementing analytical applications on LC, GC and MS instrumentation
  • Mature disposition, positive attitude, and strong sense of commitment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication & writing skills
  • Data driven analytical skills are essential
  • Proficiency in multiple languages is preferred
  • Being a confident team player with positive attitude towards getting things done
  • Meticulous attention to detail is required, particularly with regards to health, safety & hygiene
