Overview

Waters are seeking a highly driven individual to lead, manage and grow an established and extremely successful service business for Hungary and Austria for which there is a diverse team of 13 employees that generates a service revenue of $8.8 Million per annum. The Field Service Manager will act as the figurehead for the Service Business and Operations for the assigned countries and will be expected to lead and motivate a diverse team that is field based. The role necessitates pro-active leadership and will be measured on the post holder’s ability to ensure that productivity, efficiency and performance targets are met or exceeded by his or her team. 

 

A passionate and enduring focus on customer satisfaction metrics and customer Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to achieve the required contractual levels is an absolute must, along with high-quality relationship building and management across our array customers within the different industries Waters serves. The post holder will invest and channel time to one to ones with his or her staff members that will cover processes, development and continuous improvement with the goal of improving and developing the performance of their direct reports and teams; a special focus will be on the development of the team leaders’ management and leadership skills to ensure their and Waters success. The role also has routine statistical reporting both financially and operationally with the monitoring and improvement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as a topmost component.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and execute strategies to grow and develop the service business within your assigned countries; cascade corporate strategies throughout your assigned team(s), ensuring alignment of resulting SMART objectives. 
  • Act as a ‘change agent’, advocating and driving change and transformation in line with corporate direction and the ever-changing external business environment. 
  • Ownership of service revenue generation across your assigned business unit(s), ensuring that growth, revenue and margin targets are met/exceeded. Work closely and collaboratively with Service Sales to ensure service contract revenue targets are reached/exceeded and System Sales to deliver benefit and strong business outcomes. 
  • Manage spend budgets for your teams’ expenses to the business’s expectations; so that margin targets are met. 
  • Advocate and drive collaboration across different Waters business functions to identify initiatives that will facilitate and contribute to mutual success for our customers and Waters. 
  • Direct Line Management and the development of a group of Field Service Engineers in the successful support of our portfolio of products across varied industries.  
  • Act as a key-figurehead for the Waters service business to develop and maintain strong customer relationships with a primary focus on ensuring their success with Waters products portfolio. 
  • Continually develop individual and team competencies and capabilities to enable a high-level of local support addressing customers complex application and technical issues. 
  • Network Locally, Regionally, European wide and at a Global level to mitigate any skill or resourcing gaps and to share learnings and best practices. 
  • Effective reporting and management of customer and product escalations working closely   with European and Global Support Teams and full compliance to Waters well-defined procedures. 
  • Proactively focus on continuous improvement and efficiency gains to improve service delivery in your countries, whilst understanding and keeping abreast of the shifts in markets and customer demands.  
  • Perform analysis as required on various aspects of field operations, not exhaustively but including regular statistical updates against core KPI’s, adopting an analytical mindset to use this data to adjust business practices and drive change. 
  • Business and Operations update to senior management via Monthly Business Reviews and regular meetings. 
  • Ensure your teams compliance with WGS Support Systems, Processes and Waters Global Policies and Procedures. 
  • Ability, desire and flexibility to perform a variety of operations.  
  • Any other additional task that consummates with the level and scope of the role as deemed by management of Waters. 

Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline, or equivalent level of experience, a recognised management qualification is also desirable.  
  • A proven track record of managing teams with demonstratable leadership traits and skills possessing a strong ability to influence and inspire others. 
  • Demonstrated behaviours of acting with focus, urgency and accountability. 
  • Authenticity, a high integrity person who is trustworthy, acts with transparency and has a passion and experience of building high performing teams. 
  • A working knowledge and background within Waters primary industries such as Pharma or Life Sciences is favourable.  
  • A highly effective communicator both written and verbally with an unflinching high-level of customer focus. 
  • Enterprise minded, an individual who thrives on working and collaborating across diverse teams for overall customer and company success. 
  • A keen interest and methodical approach to fault finding and problem solving.  
  • A continuous drive and engagement to develop yourself and others, with a keen eye for organisational talent.  
  • Calm under pressure with a keen desire and ability to think, methodically, on your feet and outside the box to resolve complex operational, organisational, people and management problems and issues.  
  • Highly organized with strong prioritisation and time management skills. 
  • Flexible and adaptable with an ability to work with and across all levels within the subsidiary and the wider organisation 
  • Good business Acumen, with an outside-in mindset, who constantly scans the external environment for shifts and changes.  
  • This person must hold a current passport and be prepared to travel abroad not only during working hours but also occasionally at weekends.  
  • A current clean driving license is also a must. 
  • Fluent in Hungarian and German langauages.
