Responsibilities

About the Role 

Waters is seeking a Principal Digital Engineer – Angular to lead front-end engineering for our next-generation digital commerce experiences built on SAP Commerce Storefront. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on building highly performant, scalable, and reusable Angular-based solutions that power our global B2B and B2C digital platforms. 

You will serve as a senior technical authority for Angular development, shaping architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and partnering closely with UX, Product, Backend, and Platform teams. The ideal candidate combines deep Angular expertise with strong architectural thinking and experience delivering enterprise-scale digital commerce solutions. 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Lead end-to-end development of Angular applications within SAP Storefront implementations 
  • Define and drive front-end architecture, design patterns, and best practices for enterprise-scale Angular solutions 
  • Translate business and experience requirements into high-quality technical solutions 
  • Partner closely with UX, Product, and Backend teams to deliver seamless, customer-centric digital experiences 
  • Mentor senior and junior engineers, raising the bar on front-end engineering excellence 
  • Drive continuous improvement in performance, accessibility, security, and code quality 
  • Influence the evolution of Waters’ digital platform as we modernize and scale globally

  • Angular (latest versions), TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+) 
  • SAP Commerce Cloud (Spartacus / SAP Storefront) 
  • HTML5, CSS3, SCSS 
  • Adobe Edge Delivery Services 
  • RESTful APIs, GraphQL (desirable) 
  • State management, design systems, component libraries 
  • Git, CI/CD pipelines, modern DevOps tooling 
  • Testing frameworks (Jest, Karma, Cypress or similar) 
  • Agile / Scrum delivery models 

 

Responsibilities 

Technical Leadership 

  • Serve as a front-end technical authority for Angular and SAP Storefront across the digital platform 
  • Define scalable front-end architecture and coding standards aligned with enterprise and SAP best practices 
  • Lead design reviews, architectural discussions, and complex technical problem-solving 
  • Ensure performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG), and security standards are met 
  • Conduct code reviews and promote testing, automation, and CI/CD best practices 

 

Development & Delivery 

  • Design, develop, and maintain modular Angular applications for global ecommerce and digital experiences 
  • Build reusable UI components and design-system-aligned front-end frameworks 
  • Collaborate with backend teams on API contracts and integration patterns 
  • Work with DevOps and QA teams to ensure smooth deployments and high-quality releases 
  • Contribute to multi-year digital platform initiatives and large-scale modernization programs 

 

Collaboration & Mentorship 

  • Work within an agile, squad-based delivery model across global teams 
  • Mentor engineers in Angular, modern front-end practices, and enterprise-scale development 
  • Lead technical spikes, proof-of-concepts, and knowledge-sharing sessions 
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech or equivalent
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on front-end development 
  • 7+ years hands-on experience with Angular in enterprise or large-scale applications 
  • Strong experience building modern SPAs using TypeScript, Angular, and component-based architectures 
  • Experience with SAP Commerce Cloud / SAP Storefront (Spartacus) or similar commerce platforms is preferred. 
  • Deep understanding of front-end performance optimization, accessibility, and security best practices 
  • Proven experience leading complex front-end initiatives and influencing technical direction 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-based delivery models 
  • Proven success working in agile/scrum environments 
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills
