Overview

Finance Manager (Japan) is responsible for the full scope of financial accounting and tax requirements for the business. This position leads and oversees periodic financial close processes in accordance with US GAAP and supports year-end reporting and reconciliation under J GAAP. The role is also responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong internal control environment across the organization.

Responsibilities

 

Manage financial accounting operations
Lead corporate tax filings and ensure accurate, timely compliance
Ensure full compliance with corporate account reconciliation standards, Statutory(J-GAAP) & US GAAP reporting and SOx
Liaise with auditors (external, tax, and internal) and headquarters on financial matters
Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
Manage and track the performance of invested assets and capital expenditure in keeping with policies and guidelines
Manage and forecast cash-flow
Supervise & develop a team of 5 members

Qualifications

 

Education:
 
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or related fields
CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional certification preferred
 
Required:
 
8+ years finance/accounting experience.
Experience with SAP (ECC and/or HANA) or other major ERP systems
Solid experience in US GAAP and JGAAP reporting
Hands-on experience with Japanese corporate tax filings
Strong understanding of financial compliance and internal controls
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex financial issues
Strong leadership and team management capabilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and decision-making skills
Native or Fluent proficiency in Japanese
Business-level or higher proficiency in English
 
Preferred:
 
Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot) 
Experience leveraging digital tools to enhance and automate finance processes
Familiarity with data visualization and workflow design
