Overview

We are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Sales Applications Scientist with experience in Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) to join our team supporting instrument sales in the Benelux region. In the Waters Analytical Sciences Demonstration Laboratories, we play a critical role in business growth by understanding our customers’ scientific challenges and providing solutions through our industry-leading LCMS platforms.

 

This position is based in our modern Demonstration Laboratory in Antwerp, Belgium. As part of the Benelux Customer Success Team, you will apply your expertise in LCMS across a wide range of the high-resolution mass spectrometry biologics applications and sales support activities. The role involves travel across the Benelux countries to engage with customers, understand their requirements, and present results from sample analysis. Travel is expected to be approximately 30%.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and eager to learn scientist who has extensive experience in LCMS, strong sample analysis capabilities, and excellent demonstration skills to help customers make informed decisions about their next technological investment. Responsibilities

  • Deliver knowledgeable and competitive instrument demonstrations and sample analyses to support customer engagement and regional growth.
  • Serve as a technical expert in LCMS within the Benelux team, with a focus on large molecules applications.
  • Collaborate closely with Application Chemists and Instrument Sales teams within the wider European organization.
  • Support early-stage sales pipeline development through laboratory projects, customer collaboration, and technical guidance.
  • Provide scientific leadership to enhance expertise within the regional Applications Laboratory.
  • Oversee routine maintenance and performance optimization of LCMS instruments to ensure consistent, high-quality result.
  • Support the introduction of new technologies and lead demonstrations for both internal teams and customers.
  • Deliver high-quality analytical reports and presentations that clearly communicate experimental results and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in LCMS technologies and applications and proactively integrate new knowledge into lab practices and customer engagements.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

BSc Degree (or higher) in Life sciences with extensive LCMS relevant Industry, Academic or commercial experience

 

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry is essential
  • Experience developing and using qualitative LCMS methodology for large molecule applications is desirable.
  • Flexibility to develop skills across different applications is essential, however we are keen to hear from candidates who have experience in any of the following key areas:

 

  • Intact protein analysis
  • Peptide mapping
  • Oligonucleotide analysis
  • Glycan analysis
  • Bioprocessing
  • GLP-1 analysis

 

  • Hands-on experience of Waters LCMS products and software (eg waters_connect, MassLynx, UNIFI, related application managers) is preferred though we would also welcome candidates with experience with alternative LCMS technology and operating systems
  • A good understanding of the role of LCMS in the biologics markets including applications trends and LC/MS technology offerings across these markets
  • Candidates should possess good communication skills in French and/or Dutch as well as English, curiosity, strong business acumen and growing commercial awareness. Experience in a customer-facing role is preferred but not essential.
