A current vacancy exists for Software Developer in our facility in Hüllhorst Germany.   


  • Understand, debug and develop innovative software solutions for Data analysis / Analytical techniques / Computer vision / Instrument control
  • Proof new developments by running actual measurements on reference materials and interpreting the obtained results
  • Troubleshooting issues which can arise from both software, hardware, specific material's behavior or an interaction of the three
  • Translate requirements from colleagues and customers from academia and research departments into software requirements and task specifications
  • Responsible for developing and releasing new programs and proofing the program to develop needed changes to assure production of a quality product.
  • Responsible for processing and performing all jobs in an efficient manner with no assistance from the supervisor.
  • Strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders in a geographically disperse team.
  • Be flexible about working on team tasks and take responsibility for contributing to the success of the team.
  • Provide assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems


  • Python 2.7 and 3+
  • Familiarity with data science packages as SciPy, Pandas or R
  • Running measurement instruments and interpreting experimental data
  • Operating Systems: Linux, Windows
  • Materials structure and properties of ceramics, glass, metals
  • Materials characterization techniques
  • Fluent in English

Desirable Skills:

  • Speaking knowledge of German
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Agile/Scrum frameworks and distributed developing tools (git, bitbucket, jira, etc)
  • Unit testing techniques
  • Qt GUI library
  • Asynchronous and parallel programming
  • Open source ecosystems and licensing models


  • Bachelor degree or better in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Computer Science. Proved academic or work experience in software development.
  • 3 years or more of relevant professional experience in one of the above fields. 
  • Ability to identify tasks which require automation and automate them.
  • Experience working in a team environment with colleagues in different geographic locations.
  • Good knowledge of computer program design methods and techniques.
  • Performs work of high difficulty in designing, writing, editing, modifying, and debugging computer programs.
