Waters Corporation require a Business Applications Systems Analyst to provide end user support to our global Software Development community, in this role, focussed on providing European based support the individual will provide support for software developers using the Atlassian Tool Platform and related CI-CD delivery pipeline. (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crowd, Bamboo, Portfolio, Artifactory, Git).


Specifically, the individual will be relied upon to provide user support, troubleshooting, product support and assist in installations/upgrades, tool customizations and their validation.

We are looking for smart, self-motivated software engineers to join our truly exceptional engineering team. 


  • Help to set global direction and standards for the consistent use of the Atlassian Tool Platform at Waters. Collaborate across business units to understand the Waters business requirements and mitigate all impact of tool changes on the business process and integrated solutions.
  • Administer and provide technical support of the Atlassian tool platform and working with CI-CD SMEs and Build Managers, the related CI-CD pipeline
    • Triage, analyse, and resolve problems as they arise.
    • Serve as the first point of contact at Waters Brasov, for all issues involving the Atlassian tools.
    • As the local “inhouse” expert for using the Atlassian Tool Platform. Working closely with the Agile teams using the tools, provide guidance and user support.
    • Collaborate with Corporate Business Technology group and other Engineering Applications group personnel to provide system and infrastructure support in accordance with established company practices. Including:
    • Maintain user accounts and access rights according to user roles and process requirements.
    • Collection of user requirements for configuration changes and/or customizations that enhance or increase the efficiency of the design process.
    • Support the scheduling and implementation of updates
    • Manage, validate, and deploy these changes in order to meet new business requirements.
    • Work with vendors to resolve Level 1 issues
    • Document, test and validate all changes according the software quality management process
    • Participate in establishing best practices for the business units using the tools.
    • Participate in configuring and reviewing existing life cycle and workflows and develop consensus among the various business units for implementation.
    • Support Integration with other corporate tools such as the IBM Jazz platform by building and maintaining life cycles, workflows, and attributes within the Atlassian tools through the use of middleware applications, i.e. Tasktop, that adhere to corporate standards. Ensure that any modifications made within the Atlassian tools do not adversely impact the integration.
    • Maintain compliance with the Waters software quality process and external regulations.


  • A Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Computer Science or Engineering of related field of study is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using the Atlassian Tools.
  • Essential: Hands on experience using
    • Jira and Jira Portfolio
    • Confluence
    • Crowd
    • Bitbucket, Bamboo, and related tools like Artifactory and Git
    • Experience in Enterprise use of Git, Bitbucket and Bamboo desired.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Must be a team player but also capable of working well independently.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in the configuration of Windows and Linux Operating Systems for use with the Atlassian Tool suite.
  • Knowledge Virtualisation – VmWare, VirtualBox.
  • Knowledge of Tasktop Connect or Tasktop Hub
  • Experience of CI-CD pipe-lines, build automation, test automation desired
  • Experience of software configuration and change management methodologies desired.
  • Awareness of infrastructure management technologies such as Puppet and Chef desired.


  • Other useful skills include:
    • Experience in using tools such as Jenkins, Gliffy Diagrams, Rational Team Concert, Rational Doors NG, and Rational Quality Manager.
    • Experience of scripting – Shell, Power Shell, JavaScript, Groovy, Python, Perl.
    • Commercial development experience with one or more of Java, C#, C++, C
    • Experience with software development toolsets, development environments and compilers
    • Experience of working in large software development teams, specifically in a distributed environment where activities can occur across numerous sites and cultures.
    • Experience of Agile Software Development methodologies.
    • Awareness of Unit and Automation tests – SpecFlow, Gherkin.
