    Job Description


    Covering the south UK, ideally based close to the Waters Elstree office or within easy access of all major southern UK road networks, this role involves developing service business across all products whilst ensuring the retention of the existing client base.  The key objective being to achieve the sales revenue and growth target for the designated territory.


    The main responsibilities include: 


    • Meeting/Exceeding service plan revenue and growth budgets on a quarterly and annual performance measures
    • Managing the entire service plan sales process, establishing partnerships and creating value for customers and Waters.
    • Managing resources, liaising and educating across departments – working closely with support groups (e.g. Instrument Sales, Chemistry Operation and Informatics) in addition to close cooperation with the operational Service Managers.
    • Formulating and successfully implementing a territory business plans aimed at achieving revenue and growth targets for existing and new business.
    • Planning and prioritising personal time and sales activities.
    • Managing the plan product mix, upgrades and pricing to agreed targets and discount levels.
    • Reporting weekly all sales activities, using and updating the customer relationship management system, the service plan quotation system, and other systems as required.


    The successful candidate is likely to have the following competencies:


    • Highly motivated individual with charisma, perseverance and drive, plus the ability to work effectively in pressurised sales situations.
    • An understanding of the sales and negotiation process preferably with a proven track record of sales achievement. 
    • Customer focussed with excellent listening skills.
    • Ability to understand and communicate complex technical & commercial values.
    • Good interpersonal skills with a positive sense of humour and must be a good team player - prepared to work as a member of an integrated sales/service organisation.
    • Good priority setting and organisational skills.
    • Knowledge of computers and the use of standard Windows-based packages (knowledge of a Waters chromatography or mass spectrometry data system would be desirable)



    Qualifications & Experience

    • BSc, MSc or equivalent
    • Technical sales experience, ideally in the software or mass spec field
    • Experience in a laboratory, with a background in chromatography and mass spectrometry

    Travel- This person must hold a current passport and be prepared to travel abroad not only during working hours but also occasionally at weekends.


    Driving Licence-The candidate must hold a current driving licence, preferably free from penalty points. It is also company policy that all company car driver completes a course of instruction and pass the test organised by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (I.A.M.).


    Location and Internet-The candidate must be located within easy reach of all major location in the south of England with good access to all major motorway networks. The candidate must also have good access (home or other) to high speed internet capability to faciltate remote office work or live within commutable distance to the Waters Elstree office
