Overview

We are recruiting for a Manufacturing/ Production Engineer to join our team within Waters, a global leader within the Scientific and Medical Industry.

This key position in Waters Production Engineering department to provide effective best manufacturing practice support to key areas of the company such as the Research, Design, NPI, Operations, Product Assurance and Quality departments for MS production. A key function of the role will be the initial production set up and sample verification within a worldwide supply chain, using cGMP methodology.

Responsibilities

  •  To provide Design for Manufacture & Assembly input into designs for ease of manufacture and cost reduction.
  • Propose current and develop new manufacturing technologies, methods and materials that will improve production capabilities and production yields.
  • Identify cost drivers in new and current designs, with a view to changing the manufacturing process in order to improve efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Produce process documentation such as Manufacturing procedures, Assembly procedures, Inspection plans and Validation reports.
  • Provide technical and manufacturing support to the various internal departments and the external Supply Chain.
  • Identify the root cause of manufacturing faults and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support Operations with the design of Jigs, Tools & Fixtures. Knowledge of molding tools would be advantage.
  • Monitor manufacturing process capability using statistical processes.

     

    Due to the demographics of the Supply Chain, the role will involve a degree of domestic and foreign travel to offer direction and support, especially during the early design and NPI stages of manufacture.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering with suitable experience or HND or equivalent in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering with significant applicable experience.
  • Apprentice trained with formal accreditation.
  • Trained in the use of 2D/3D CAD Design tools.
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project).
  • Strong proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge of multi axis CNC machines & CMM equipment.

  • The ability to interpret detailed design assembly and piece part component drawings with a thorough knowledge of GD&T.

  • Strong knowledge of materials and a wide range manufacturing processes associated with component manufacture and system build level production.

  • Ability to analyse and interpret specification document, technical procedures and relevant professional journals.

  • The ability & knowledge to cost estimate component parts.

  • Knowledge & experience of SMED, Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques

  • ISO13485 & ISO9000 process’s and procedures.

  • Knowledge and ability to design various Jigs, Fixtures, Tools & Gauges to offer an application solution.

  • Knowledge of analytical tools, Six Sigma and TQM
