As an In House Service Sales Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing Waters Service Business in the South UK initially. Key metrics of your success in this role will include your ability to develop sales leads into well qualified opportunities, and to deliver incremental after-market revenue. In this role, you will interface via the phone and email with end users, key decision makers, department heads, purchasing agents, technicians, and scientists. Effective customer relationship skills, commercial acumen and the ability to effectively negotiate and are crucial to succeeding in this role. A key competency will be the ability to collaborate with your colleagues across the entire Waters field service organisation.


  • Meeting or exceeding financial growth targets relating to service contract renewals
  • Working with marketing to develop and deliver messaging to promote product offerings
  • Develop relationships with our Field Sales Account Managers and Technical Support Team
  • Contribute to metrics to monitor KPIs, lead generation, and opportunity development
  • Develop new business and expanding existing business opportunities
  • Maintain customer contact data and associated activities in our CRM system
  • Provide regular reports on performance and sales trends
  • Update colleagues of new areas of opportunity for revenue or lead sources
  • Respond to all leads in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop a good understanding of the Waters Product Portfolio and solutions
  • Solve a broad range of customer needs of varying scientific/technical scope and complexity
  • Any other duties consummate to the level and nature of the role



  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Science preferred;


  • Technical and practical solution Selling Experience an advantage, ideally in  HPLC/MS field
  • Experience in a laboratory, with a background in chromatography and mass spectrometry;
  • Exposure within relevant field/industry;

  • Confident and comfortable communicating with customers over the telephone. 
  • Highly passionate individual with charisma, perseverance and determination, plus the ability to work effectively in competitive sales situations;
  • Customer focussed with good level of listening skills;
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical & commercial values;
  • Good interpersonal skills with a positive sense of humour and is able to contributing as part of an integrated sales/service organisation;
  • Good priority setting and organisational skills;
  • Knowledge of computers and the use of standard Windows based packages (knowledge of a Waters chromatography or mass spectrometry data system “EMPOWER” would also be desirable);
  • Proficient English and other language skills a possible advantage;


  • Must live within a sensible commuting distance to the Waters Elstree office
  • A disclosure of any criminal convictions may be required as some of our customers work in sensitive and confidential government areas.
