    We are seeking a Manual Software Tester to join our Advanced Mass Spectrometry Software team to support the development of our scientific products through the design, development and test of instrument control software.   Our Instrument Control function is highly collaborative, operating in an interdisciplinary environment which integrates mechanical, electrical, optical and systems engineering.


    This role offers the opportunity to work as a manual software test engineer of our latest technologies. Liaising with the software team and development scientists to provide testing assurance of the stability, functionality and reliability of the control software.


    • Design, develop, execute and maintain test cases covering all aspects of the software.
    • Work in close partnership with software developers to improve product quality.
    • Provide supporting documentation in accordance with the software development processes and codes of practice.
    • Give software and technical support to internal and external users.
    • Identify opportunities for improved productivity, efficiency and quality.
    • Build strong working relationships with other departments.



    • Degree (or equivalent) in a science, engineering or computing related subject.
    • Proven experience in manual testing of control software.
    • Passionate about providing timely and reliable testing services which you can clearly convey by your actions and experiences.
    • Ability to analyse and solve complex problems. 
    • Self motivated and like being part of a team
    • Excellent communication and decision making skills.


    Desirable but not essential skills to have:

    • Experience of testing software for analytical instrumentation.
    • Experience of testing Linux OS/device drivers.
    • Experience of testing control software and experience with an RTOS.
    • Experience of developing software for analytical instrumentation.
