    Waters Corporation is currently seeking for an ‘Analytical Scientist’/’Senior Analytical Scientist’ to join our state of art Wilmslow Mass Spectrometry facility. This is an opportunity to join the Instrument Development Systems Evaluation team who support the performance evaluation of products and related integrated analytical systems that are being developed by Waters. The Instrument Development Systems Evaluation team play a critical role in new product development. We ensure that new analytical equipment meets design requirements and is fit for intended end use. The nature of the work is varied and will involve direct hands on use of the very latest cutting edge technologies, in the fields of mass spectrometry and chromatographic separation.
    The Instrument Development Systems Evaluation group is a diverse group with in excess of 40 members located on 3 Waters sites in Wilmslow, Milford and Brasov, this role is to be based in Wimslow where the group has a bias to Mass Spectrometry based systems.


    • Support the activities of the Systems Development Group, providing expertise and resource in the design and implementation of experiments to assess new technologies in a real world context. Bring a customer perspective to all phases of Instrument Development, ensuring that we help drive purposeful innovation.
    • Collaboratively interact with Waters internal subject matter experts (Product Owners, Scientific Operations, global services, the customer experience team, etc) to develop high quality System Design Verification and Validation test cases that are a fair reflection of current expected end use for the new analytical system being developed.
    • Proactively seek, develop and drive forward innovative ideas from inside and outside the organization that may add value to Waters portfolio.
    • Work with collaborators to understand, develop and evaluate technologies and product options
    • Participate in the review of key instrument design input documents.
    • Perform the formal system design verification and validation
    • Generate analytical proof of performance data to support product sales and marketing.
    • Guide Waters staff in the use of new systems and technologies
    • Work as a member of a diverse global team, to ensure that health and safety procedures are adhered to, that analytical equipment is maintained and serviced properly and that all work is in compliance with quality procedures.


    • A degree in a science subject, in addition to relevant effective experience gained in an appropriate laboratory.
    • Relevant, hands-on knowledge of Mass Spectrometry or Chromatography and their real world application gained through industrial experience with a supplier or user of these technologies.
    • A good understanding of experimental design and the fundamentals of analytical science
    • Good organisational, numerical, verbal and written communication skills.
